Volcano Lightning in Iceland

The recent eruption of a volcano in Iceland under the Eyjafjallajkull glacier has produced some incredible electrical phenomena.  The volcano creates conditions not unlike a thunderstorm, where water droplets, ice, and hail interact with each other and other particles to create electrical charges and discharges.

Below are a series of images taken during its eruption, displaying the raw power of Nature.
